Design Challenges

• Opening a 19-foot section of a load-bearing exterior wall to connect the existing family room and kitchen to the new dining room
• Integrating multiple recessed beams where load-bearing walls were removed
• Designing a new roof structure that worked cohesively with the existing rear elevation and rooflines
• Finding space for a mudroom entry from the garage without sacrificing desired kitchen storage and countertop space
